Nissan Xterra & Frontier - Transfer Case Skid Plate
for
2000-2004 Nissan Xterra SUVs.
and
2000-2004 Nissan Frontier Pickups.

Take a quick look under your Nissan and you won't find anything to protect your transfer case. The picture above and to the left shows how unprotected the transmission and transfer case really are. Apparently, Nissan didn't really think you'd be playing on real trails with your Xterra or Frontier truck. We know better!

Our transfer case skid plate is made of 3/16" thick steel and is sold with no coating. It is mounted solidly to the truck's frame, but requires drilling to install. Unfortunately, Nissan didn't provide enough mounting holes so you'll have to make a few. (Six to be exact.) Sorry!

These transfer case skids have been tested in Paragon Adventure Park here in PA, as well as in Moab, Tellico, and on other trails all over the country. These are the best skid plates you can buy for your Nissan. Another lesson learned during our off-road testing is that these skid plates help you get over obstacles by preventing your chassis cross-members from catching on whatever you're driving over. So you not only get added protection and peace of mind, your Nissan will be more capable as well!!

This skid plate (Part# NN-0006) protects your transfer case and the exhaust crossover pipe. It also effectively reduces the amount that the gas tank hangs down by providing a surface that is only 1-2" higher than the lowest part of the gas tank skid plate. (The vise grips are used during installation only!! :^) )
This is the skid plate off the vehicle. In this view you can see the notches that allow the torsion bars to be adjusted without removing the skid plate.
